Have TOYS taken over your home?  They have definitely taken over mine. So today I am sharing all of my toy organization tips!

If you are currently in the “toy stage” with your kids and can’t walk without tripping over one, it’s time for organizing. Follow the steps below and breathe a sigh of relief!

  1. Where toys should be located: In my opinionthere should be 1-3 spots in your home. Think of rooms you go in most, For me its kitchen, bedroom, my son’s room and in each room there is designated space. My boy plays in kitchen when I am preparing dinner, while I am on my laptop he is in bedroom so on. This way you can grab and toss toys away at the end of each day, the mess is cleared fast.
  2. Best organizing solutions: Once you have those spots nailed downdecide on the best organizing solutions for the toysyou want to keep.
  3. Get rid : Before you start organizing the toys, get rid of half ofthem.  Seriously!  Donate the toys your kids don’t love to play with.  If your kids are ok letting go of toys, choose which toys to donate with them.  Most moms will need to do this without their kids because if you involve them that toy that has been ignored for a year suddenly becomes an ALL TIME FAVORITE when it’s time to say good-bye.  Sound familiar?  If you’re worried about tears once your kids realize certain toys are gone try this, choose the toys you are ready to donate and put them in a sack or box and tuck them a way for a while.  If months pass and your kids don’t even notice donate the toys and don’t look back!  Kids usually play better with toys when there are fewer options.
  4. Pile up: Once done decluttering, take time to categorize toys. Stuffed toys, puzzles, vehicle, building blocks, figurines, dolls, doll dress-up, Art supplies, books and other category which you feel your kid specially need so he can pick easily and enjoy.
  5. Give them Home: Find a place to put away toys. Variety of bins, baskets, cubby are available. Find the best that works for you, and start placing each category in each bins. Large ottoman with built-in storage is good in living room, when family is having me time, children can pull toys and play. When done playing, it is easy to toss keeping space neat and tidy. One drawer with organizer can be dedicated for toys, when kids spending time in bedroom with parents.
  6. Rotation of toys: If you don’t want to pare down your kids’ toys collection consider rotating them!  Put some away in a closet for a while and pull them out on a rainy day.
  7. Age appropriate Storage solutions: Time to time storage solutions need to be altered, as kid grow their need and choices differ. One tip I would like to share, here is, buy versatile storage baskets, bins. This last long, and need minimum alteration to do when kids grow. Toys can be replaced with books keeping same storage.

Toy organization benefits not only to Parents, but also caregivers, educator, home schooling parents. It helps in children development and well-being through increased sense of responsibility and independence. Moreover Parents too have free time to focus on other activities.

Hope This helps you!
